We’ve found the top bar hive to be the most sustainable hive for the small family homestead. In this course, Jacob Klingensmith will show you how to build your own top bar hive. In the first video, he goes over the different parts of the top bar hive and then he takes you through laying it out and cutting the pieces. In the second video, Jacob shows you how to assemble it. The instructor

Jacob Klingensmith has been raising bees for over 13 years and manages more than 80 beehives. He has been working for a number of years with the top bar hive and feels that it is perfect for the small, sustainable family farm. Jacob and his family run Brazos River Honey (www.TexasHives.com), where they sell honey, top bar hives and other beekeeping supplies. Jacob has been teaching beekeeping and gardening classes at the Ploughshare for 8 years.
