Rigid Heddle 100 – Introduction to the Rigid Heddle Loom

fibercrafts

1 day class

If you’ve always wanted to begin weaving at home or you enjoy weaving but find the larger looms impractical for any reason, this workshop is for you! Learn the art of weaving fabric using a simple, two shaft rigid heddle loom. This simple and practical loom is large enough to weave a wide range of projects including placemats, napkins, dish towels, shawls, fabric for clothes and many more woven items.

In this one day beginning workshop you will become familiar with the loom and weaving terminology, learn direct warping, practice basic weaving skills, and weave a simple scarf. We will provide the use of a loom, tools, materials and a notebook. These are included in the cost of the class.

We have looms for sale. If you’d like to purchase your own loom, please call us at (254) 300-2436 when you sign up for the class. (Students who take this class are eligible for a 10% discount on purchases made at the time of class.)

This class is from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Note: Since our workshops are specifically designed for adults, an individual must be 18 years old to enroll in a class. All students should wear practical work clothes and shoes. For your safety, we ask that you do not wear shorts or sandals to a class you are attending.

All our classes close 24 hours before the class date with the exception of classes that start on Monday, which will close the Friday before. If there's a class that closed early that you'd like to attend, please call us at 254-754-9620 to check for availability.
