European-Style Work Bench (10-day)

This will be a ten-day class starting on Monday, August 5, 2013 through Thursday, August 15, 2013. (No class on Sunday). Each person will build a European style workbench with a quick-release front vise and a wagon-style tail vise.We did a prototype of the class in December of 2011. You can read a blog entry about the prototype class here. The overall size is 36″ tall by 30″ wide and 7 ft long. If someone wants to change the height or length due to special needs we could work with that. I will say that I have used many different design benches with different vise configurations and I really like the ease and workability of this bench.The front vise will be a quick release vise that will mount flush with the front of the bench, it will have a large jaw on it which will enable heavy duty clamping. The tail vise is a wagon-style vise made by Bench Crafted.

The bench has a tool well on it which I highly recommend if the bench is going to be in the middle of the shop. The tool well will save your tools from falling on the concrete. It will save you hours of sharpening chisels and fixing broken tools! The bench also has a shelf underneath it as well.

The cost of the bench course is $1750 plus the material fee of $1650, making the grand total $3400 dollars for the complete bench course. We will pre-mill the base parts and the top. (We will glue up the top during the class.)

In order to secure your place in a class, we must receive your full registration fee for any class costing less than $1,000.00. For classes costing $1,000.00 or more, fifty percent of the registration fee is due when you register, and the remaining balance is due 30 days prior to your class date and will be charged to the same card you used to register for this class.
