Joanne Hall – Pick-up Band Weaving

Bands and Loom

2 day class

Have you ever admired beautiful band loom weaving? Fiber Crafts will be hosting a two-day Pick-up Band Weaving workshop with guest instructor Joanne Hall.

The first day of the workshop, students will begin weaving on pre-warped heddle reeds and then learn to warp their own heddle reeds. Students will weave a short plain weave project and be introduced to five thread pick-up weaving. (The hand-crafted reeds are included in your materials fee, and you can take them home with you.)

On the second day students will warp their heddle reeds for a five thread pick-up project that can be finished at home. Joanne will demonstrate several more advanced patterns and have pre-warped seven thread reeds for students to work on if you desire. Students will also have the opportunity to weave on a two pedal bandloom if you would like to try it.

We will have two pedal bandlooms plus warp and weft fibers available to purchase at Fiber Crafts as well as netting shuttles, warping pegs and bandloom clamps.

Please check out the Gallery for some samples of the¬†handwoven bands we’ll be doing in this class.

We will have a home-cooked meal Monday and Tuesday evening for any student who would like to be included. Please call Fiber Crafts (254) 300-2436 to reserve a meal. (It will cost $12 per meal or $24 extra for both meals.)

The materials fee for this class will be figured at the end of the class.

No Prerequisite

This class is from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
