2 day class

In this two-day workshop you will warp the loom using direct warping and learn a variety of finishing techniques and lace weaves including hemstitch, Italian hemstitch, trellis hemstitch, leno, Mexican leno, Danish medallion and Brook’s Bouquet that you can use to enhance all your handwoven pieces. On the first day, you will complete a sampler of the stitches and weaves learned.

On the second day, you will use the finishing techniques and lace weaves to work an attractive cotton or cottolin runner using the design of your choice.

We will be using the book Finishing Touches for the Handweaver by Virginia West. Materials and the Virginia West book are included in the cost of the class.

Bring your own loom with a 10 dent reed and one 16″ pick-up stick.  In this class we will introduce the use of a boat shuttle.

We also have looms for sale if you wish to purchase your own. If you wish to purchase a loom to use in this class, please call us at (254) 300-2436 at least a week before the class. (You are eligible for a 10% discount on purchases made at the time of class.)

This class is from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
