In this three-day class we will weave simple plain weave fingertip hand towels with traditional Acadian designs. The loom will be partially-warped with 8/2 cotton. You will finish threading your loom and going through the reed. You will weave a sampler with various finishing techniques and weave up to four hand towels with traditional Acadian patterns that the Complex Weavers’ Acadian Textiles Historical Research Group chaired by Charlotte Lindsey Allison has shared with us.
We will also explore a brief history of the move of the Acadians from the royal courts of the French kings to Canada and down to the bayous of Louisiana where they became known as the Cajuns.
Handouts will be provided and are included in the cost of materials.
This class is from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
