4 day class
Tapestry is a very old weaving technique which allows complete freedom in creating form. We use our floor looms for tapestry rather than the traditional frame looms for comfort and faster weaving. The floor loom also gives us better tension, even packing and the ability to put on much longer warps.
In this four-day class we will spend the first two days learning the different techniques, horizontal and vertical stripes, squares, rectangles, circles, diagonal shapes, curves, letters and how to follow a cartoon.
We will then spend the next two days weaving a piece that can be made into a tote bag or used as a table runner or wall hanging. Or if you prefer, one long sample.
Our looms will be pre-warped with 8/3 linen and the weft will be a worsted wool in a wide variety of colors.
The materials fee for this class will be figured at the class.
No tapestry weaving experience is necessary, but some floor loom experience is necessary.
This class is from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
All our classes close 24 hours before the class date with the exception of classes that start on Monday, which will close the Friday before. If there’s a class that closed early that you’d like to attend, please call us at 254-754-9620 to check for availability.
