Description
A tahkli is a small support spindle used for spinning fine cotton threads. Spinning with a tahkli is a simple, inexpensive, very efficient and enjoyable method for spinning your yarn. Proficient tahkli spinners can be as fast as those using a wheel. Knowing how to use a tahkli is a wonderful preparation for learning how to spin cotton on a charka (the spinning tool used by Ghandi), for using a spindle-type wheel, as well as for spinning on the more traditional wheel. You will go home with a hand-made tahkli made by one of our craftsmen and some cotton to keep spinning.
