For nearly 20 years, the Heritage School of Woodworking has successfully taught over 4,000 aspiring woodworkers the art of hand tool woodworking in our acclaimed workshops at the Ploughshare campus in Central Texas. The school began in 1995 with simple, one-day classes on joinery and hand tools. These small classes have now grown into a full-time hand tool woodworking school with over 30 different courses. Starting in 2014, the woodworking classes and workshops are now being offered online.
In each of the classes, our craftsmen will teach you how to use centuries-old skills to produce heirloom furniture that will last for generations. You’ll learn the basics, such as sharpening, as well as how to make dovetails and other joints that will then be incorporated into actual projects you will take home and cherish. After our foundational courses, we have a whole series of more advanced project courses, such as dovetailed blanket chests and hand-carved rocking chairs, that will help you hone your woodworking skills.
