Description
3 day class
In this hands-on workshop you will create an “occasional table” entirely by hand from solid black cherry. You will learn to hand cut mortise-and-tenon joints, which through the years have remained the signature of all frame construction. In addition, you will develop further hand-tool woodworking skills that form the joinery and arched aprons as well as the tapered legs to this occasional table.Preparing a project for final finishing is one of the most important steps to completing any woodworking project. We take you step by step as you hand plane and scrape all the parts of your project and provide you with instruction in applying a traditional hand-rubbed finish
The skills learned in this three-day workshop are the same skills that you will need to build any style or size table, from a coffee table to a dining room table. These skills will also prepare you for more advanced furniture-making projects such as chairs.
The first day of class is from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Subsequent days are from 8 a.m to 5:30 p.m.
Prerequisite: Joinery II: Woodworking Basics (3-day)
All our classes close 24 hours before the class date with the exception of classes that start on Monday, which will close the Friday before. If there’s a class that closed early that you’d like to attend, please call us at 254-754-9620 to check for availability.
